Thank you to everyone who made ProjectX a reality. Because of your contribution as a Mentor, Domain Expert, Sponsor, Judge and Participant, we were able to make ProjectX a reality. We would like to a take a brief moment to celebrate the winners for each category; paper submissions are available for reading.

In the Infectious Disease category, we would like to congratulate University of Toronto, for their paper on forecasting Black Sigatoka in banana crops using Latent Neural ODEs.

In the Weather and Natural Disaster Prediction category, we would like to congratulate University of Michigan, for using Deep Learning to generate Super-Resolution Climate Models.

In the Emissions and Energy Efficiency category, we are happy to congratulate Cornell University, for their paper on Ride Hailing emissions modelling. 

A big round of applause to the participating teams and immense quality of work that was produced in the competition. We look forward to welcoming you back in 2021!

TIMELINE

SEPTEMBER 01

Students will be assigned focus areas and will be asked to start reaching out to experts to learn about gaps in research.

SEPTEMBER 03 - VIRTUAL KICKOFF

Students will be onboarded to the competition with short presentations from UofT AI, the head judge, and partners.

SEPTEMBER 20 - PROJECT PROPOSAL

Deliverable 1 due from participants.

NOVEMBER 23

Final draft of research paper is due from all participating teams.

DECEMBER 

Winning teams are announced by our panel of researchers and industry experts!
